Welcome to the web site for the Orange County, NY alliance of SAYNO2NYRI.... Our Mission Statement
SayNO2NYRI is a community-based citizens’ organization that came into being in response to the threat posed by NYRI’s (“New York Regional Interconnect”) plan to run a high voltage power line through our towns and villages in the Hudson Valley area. SayNO2NYRI has joined with several other regional organizations to fight the plan. The proposed power lines will destroy our towns, the local environment, the area’s economy, private citizens’ property and potentially our citizens’ health. It has not been shown that the line is necessary, or that the proposed route is the least harmful one. SayNO2NYRI is working tirelessly to fight this plan, through community organizing, education, outreach and active opposition in the State Public Service Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and any other possible venue. We welcome the support of all individuals, organizations and politicians in this fight.
