We are trying to create a list
of important local historical, archaeological & environmental sites
in our neighborhoods.
Time is short so act now! You probably know we're trying to preserve
our community from a proposed high voltage power line that would run
adjacent to your property.
Successful efforts to stop this kind of encroachment depend on
identifying local historical, archaeological, environmental
information, such as details about small family cemeteries, old mill
foundations, historical relevance and unique natural structures
alone the route of the proposed power line. We also need to identify
locations of particular importance to our communities, regardless of
historic significances, such as schools, churches , senior citizen
centers, etc. that will be adversely impacted by the proposed power
lines.
Only local residents and landowners really know what is on our near
their property. We ask that you provide us with information
requested below about your property and e-mail it to us by October
1st.
For Example:
● Do you you have an old home?
● An old foundation?
● What do you know about the
history behind your property?
● Is there an historic marker on
your property?
● Was this your family's homestead?
● Is there a cemetery nearby?
● Was your home formerly used as a
school or church?
● Are there unique geological
features on your land? A stream? A rock Outcropping?
●
A swamp or wetland? A
waterfall? Artesian well or spring?
Even if you are not sure your information is important, let us know.
