Instructions for submitting written testimony to the Department Of Energy about the draft proposed National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors (NIETC)

We strongly encourage everybody to submit comments opposing the NIETC's. Remember, in whatever form, you must submit your comments by July 6, 2007.

For those of you who weren't able to attend and testify at any of the hearings, or for those of you who would like to submit additional written testimony, here's how:

1. Via the Internet:
Just click on the link below and submit your comments on the form provided.
http://nietc.anl.gov/involve/comments/index.cfm

2. By mail
Written comments can be mailed and should be addressed to:

The Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, OE-20
U.S. Department of Energy
1000 Independence Avenue SW
Washington, DC 20585.

Your comments must be marked "Attn: Docket No. 2007-OE-01."

Note: Delivery of U.S. Postal Service mail to DOE continues to be delayed by several weeks due to security screening. DOE therefore encourages commenters to submit comments electronically by e-mail. If comments are submitted by mail, the Department requests that they be accompanied by a CD or diskette containing the electronic files of the submission.

3. During Public Hearings
The DOE will hold public meetings in the following cities on the following dates:

June 12, 2007 - Rochester, NY;
June 13 , 2007 - Pittsburgh, PA

Additional information on the public meetings is available at http://www.energetics.com/NIETCpublicmeetings

What can you do today to join with us in our efforts to stop the power lines.

You Can Help! This fight is not over - in fact, it has just begun!

You can write to your politicians to let them know how you feel about NYRI's proposed power lines. Below are some addresses and phone numbers for you to use. Take a little time every night to compose a handwritten letter to these politicians. Form letters are not as effective and are usually just disregarded by office staff. Faxes and handwritten letters, however, attract the attention of staff who are inundated with mail each day. If you would like a sample letter, we have furnished one. Feel free to change and add information. Your additional efforts can make a difference in successfully defeating this for-profit proposal, which would only damage our environment and our way of life.
